Since Earl Schaffer’s first visit here in 1948, thousands of Appalachian Trail hikers have found shelter at Sunnybank Inn.

Looking to stay with us? Find answers to common hiker questions here.

How much does a room cost?

We charge a flat rate of $35 per person per night for thru-hikers.

How many people can stay in each room?

Usually 1-2 hikers. Some of our rooms have queen beds, others have a double and a single.

Can I reserve a room just for myself?

Nope! Rooms are first-come, first-serve. If we're not busy, you may get the room to yourself. At most, you'll be sharing with one other hiker. We ask that if you're hiking with a buddy, you share a room to leave space for others in need of rest and relaxation.

Do you have laundry?

Yes. Laundry is $5 per load. We also have a line if you'd like to air out your tent and other gear.

Do you offer shuttles?

We do! Let us know you're interested when you call to reserve a room, and we can arrange a shuttle.

When can I arrive?

Check-in is any time after noon.

What's the deal with breakfast?

For $12, we offer a big ol' hiker breakfast. A typical spread includes a vegetarian omelet, toast, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and tea/coffee/juice. You can find out more here.

Can I send a resupply package there?

Absolutely. If you are shipping via USPS, please use PO Box 233, Hot Springs, NC 28743. If you are shipping via UPS or FedEx, use 26 Walnut Street, Hot Springs, NC 28743. (We do not have an additional package fee.)

Do you allow camping?

Unfortunately, we do not allow camping at Sunnybank.

Can I bring my dog?

Nope. We love animals, but have a few of our own. In order to keep the peace, no other pets are allowed.

Do you have a stamp and a register?

Yes!
