Dear Sunnybank Friends,
I hope this finds you, your family and friends pulling through the pandemic okay. 2020 was a remarkably complicated and disturbing year. COVID-19, racial injustice, job losses, economic fallout, political turmoil, the deepening fragmentation in American culture weighed heavy on all of us. Following the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC), Sunnybank closed its doors on March 15th, 2020 for the first time in over a century.
Now as we begin to see what we earnestly hope will be a better, safer emerging future we have decided to begin reopening. We’ll offer our traditional Sunnybank hospitality for hikers, guests, and retreats following new protocols to ensure a safe and positive experience for guests and staff. All changes are provisional depending on CDC guidelines. Beginning May 1st we will offer limited opening for guests under the following conditions: private rooms will be available by advance reservation for individuals and couples who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Mask use and social distancing must be observed inside the Inn. Guests will be limited to eight persons and food service will be limited, dining outdoors whenever possible. We hope to see you again in a safer, happier future. -Elmer
